Harlem River Brownfield Opportunity Area |
|
Welcome to the official site of the Harlem River Brownfield Opportunity Area (BOA) Program. This program was made possible by Governor Pataki, Senate Majority Leader Bruno and Assembly Speaker Silver signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to allocate funds for the Brownfields Opportunity Area Program (BOA) created by the Superfund and Brownfields Law enacted in 2003. The BOA program provides community based organizations with assistance to complete revitalization plans and implementation strategies for areas or communities affected by the presence of multiple brownfield sites and for site assessments of priority sites. This project focuses on brownfields impacting the Harlem River. Step 1 is a Pre-nomination Study for a 1,468 acre area with multiple potential brownfield sites. Included within its boundaries are two focus areas: 156 acres along the Harlem River waterfront and 6 acres comprising the Spuyten Duyvil Triangle.
